Dr. Krista Hardy has always believed that great veterinary care begins with listening, really listening. Long before she became a board-certified specialist, she was the kid who wanted to understand how things worked, why animals behaved the way they did, and how medicine could be used not just to fix, but to comfort.
After receiving her veterinary degree from Texas A&M University in 2005, Dr. Hardy dedicated herself to deepening her medical skills and joined the staff of Coral Springs Animal Hospital in south Florida, one of the premiere veterinary hospitals in the country. Through advanced training and education she eventually earned board certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Practice. Her path has always been guided by curiosity and a desire to do things the right way, even when it requires more time, more study, or more intention.
Her passion for diagnostic medicine, especially ultrasound and echocardiography, is rooted in that same drive for understanding. She believes that the more clearly we can “see” what’s happening inside a pet—literally and figuratively—the better we can help them. Over the course of her career, she has developed a reputation for exceptional imaging skills, meticulous patient evaluation and care, and an ability to explain complex conditions in a way that makes owners feel informed and supported.
Dr. Hardy and Dr. Spoo first crossed paths in 2012 while completing their training at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, a serendipitous meeting that eventually led to marriage, partnership, and a shared life centered around veterinary medicine, family, and the animals they love. She moved to Sioux Falls in 2013, bringing her specialty-level expertise to a community that would soon feel like home.
At Upleash, Dr. Hardy is driven by the same belief that inspired the hospital itself: advanced medicine should never come at the cost of compassion. She approaches every case with humility, clarity, and a genuine desire to help both the pet in front of her and the person who loves them.
She and Dr. Spoo are raising three children who share their appreciation for animals, the outdoors, and a life built around caring for others. Together, they bring a unique blend of expertise, empathy, and lived experience to Upleash, a clinic deeply rooted in the idea that veterinary care should be personal, intentional, and human.
Whether she’s performing an echocardiogram, guiding a family through a difficult diagnosis, or celebrating a patient’s recovery, Dr. Hardy brings her signature blend of skill, compassion, and steady warmth to every exam room she enters.
